Strasburg C-3’s Taylor Adams Honored as Finalist for Missouri Regional Teacher of the Year
STRASBURG, MO – July 17, 2025 — Strasburg C-3 School District is proud to announce that fourth-grade teacher Taylor Adams was recognized as a finalist for the Missouri Regional Teacher of the Year. Adams was honored at a special recognition luncheon held at Kansas City’s historic Union Station.
Nominated by Superintendent Dr. Chrystal Mayfield and Principal Jacob Campbell, Adams completed an extensive application process that included a professional resume and multiple essay responses. Her application was reviewed by the Kansas City Regional Professional Development Center (RPDC), which selected six teachers to move forward to the state-level competition. Although not selected among the final six, Adams was named one of five Regional Finalists—an honor that places her among the area’s most exceptional educators.
“It was incredibly inspirational to be surrounded by so many passionate and talented teachers from across the Kansas City region,” Adams said. “I felt truly honored to represent Strasburg and share with others the amazing things happening at our small but mighty school.”
Adams stood out in a pool of candidates largely representing some of Missouri’s largest districts, including Independence, Blue Springs, Lee’s Summit, and Kansas City Public Schools. Her presence at the luncheon was a powerful reminder that impactful, student-centered teaching is happening in districts of every size—including Strasburg C-3, a rural K–8 district known for its close-knit school community.
During the luncheon, keynote speaker Kathy Nelson, President and CEO of the Kansas City Sports Commission, addressed the finalists and praised their dedication to education. Each honored teacher had the opportunity to introduce themselves and participate in a group photo with Nelson—who, to Adams’ delight, shared that she knew exactly where Strasburg was located.
“Representing Strasburg among so many large districts was incredibly humbling,” Adams reflected. “I am proud to be part of a school that proves small schools can make a big difference.”
Strasburg C-3 is thrilled to celebrate Mrs. Adams’ well-deserved recognition and thanks her for her continued commitment to students, learning, and excellence in education.
